Our main farming enterprise is our herd of 150 pedigree Hereford cattle which is managed by Dale on an all grass diet of summer grazing and winter silage.
In 2007 a Local Authority asked us to supply organic meatballs to all their primary schools, and so started Lower Hurst Organic (LHO) providing food for schools.
Demand for LHO’s meatballs and burgers grew and we soon needed to source meat from other beef producers like ourselves.
Today, we work with a group of organic beef farmers who are subject to the same organic inspections and controls as we are.
We believe that we offer the ultimate in food security and that we demonstrate the shortest and safest supply chain possible.
Lower Hurst Organic’s production unit is still housed on the farm in former farm buildings not far from the farmhouse and contains modern manufacturing equipment and freezing and storing facilities.
In April this year with the whole country in lockdown our team set up a ‘home delivery’ service run by John our production manager. This new venture is developing and over the summer months we hope to source more good local produce which will be available through a new online shop.

Would you like to come and visit our farm and meet our cows? We love to welcome visitors of all ages and often arrange school visits that include a tractor tour around the farm.
